Rare and early view of Cleveland New York located on the northern shore of Oneida Lake just north of Syracuse. At the time the village of Cleveland had a population of about 800 souls -- a bit more than it does today -- and was centered on glass manufacture. The legend at the bottom of the sheet identifies twenty-seven numbered buildings including the Union Glass Works and the Cleveland Glass Works both on the outskirts of town. Other labeled buildings include four churches a school the station of the New York Ontario & Western Railroad a hotel and several other local businesses. Rare.
