197847189Los Angeles: Undergraduate Students Association Student Legislative Council UCLA 1978. First Edition. Two octavo pamphlets 22cm; staple-bound wrappers; 5256pp. General mild wear; paper clip stain to later volume; Very Good. Editorial comment in red ink on verso of rear wrapper to "General Election" booklet see note below. Two voter information pamphlets prepared by undergraduates at the University of California Los Angeles. Scrawled in red ink on rear wrapper of the General Election booklet is a note: "Is nepotism the reason some of my answers were watered down some not printed and my photograph is missing" this statement accompanied by an arrow pointing to the name of one of the undergraduate editors Eric Waxman. The query is presumably in the hand of Kevin Peters the Peace & Freedom Party candidate for U.S. House of Representatives from California's 24th District whose photograph is the only one missing from the pamphlet. Peters' Democratic challenger in the race was incumbent Henry Waxman who would hold on to the seat until 2014. The insinuation of nepotism is clear but Eric Waxman's actual connection to Henry Waxman is not. The younger Waxman went on to a long legal career in Los Angeles before retiring from the firm Skadden Arps Slate & Meagher in 2015.
