An uncommon survival possibly published by the Santa Clara County Sherriff's Office showing two wanted criminals from 1911 who were travelling together. The first a C.K. Paullins was the editor of the Rocky Mountain Moose and is wanted for embezzlement. The second a Ruby J. Stanley alias Lillian Raymond is known as "Kentucky." According to the flyer "This woman is very well known in the tenderloin of Los Angeles and Fresno. She dresses in the latest style and wears fancy dresses. Included on the menu are "Play It Again Carlos" charbroiled steak served with chile relleno $11.95; Swordfish served ala Rick Ilsa Abdul or Lazlo ranging from $11.95 to $13.95; Trucha sr. 70652Very good. An album containing thirty 4" x 4" black and white photographs of Catalina Island at the turn of the century. Four of the photographs are laid in; the rest are secured in the album with photo corners built into the pages. There are no markings in the album or on the photographs with the exception of a stamp noting that the photographs were printed by Merick Reynolds Co. on Broadway in Los Angeles. The album contains a variety of images of men women and children in Victorian dress and a few coastal shots. Notably the album includes a photograph of two women climbing up the steep wooden ladder of Sugarloaf Rock in Avalon Harbor. Remarkably they are in Victorian dress with long skirts. Sugarloaf Rock was graded and blasted away to make way for a hotel where ultimately the Catalina Casino was built in 1919. The album also includes a photograph of the S.S. Hermosa at the long pier in Avalon Harbor. The Hermosa according to an article in the 2007 Catalina Islander newspaper was launched in 1888 by the Wilmington Transportation Company and was the largest and most elegant vessel of its kind on the West Coast. It was a wooden ship 141 feet in length and capable of carrying 150 passengers. The well-known Hungarian Orchestra usually accompanied passengers on the almost three-hour crossing. She was decommission in 1902 stripped of her luxuries and burned in Avalon Bay during a 4th of July celebration. The album is bound in gray heavy paper wraps. An 1870s receipt book for cemetery plots in Placerville California. The burial ground belonged to the Morning Star Lodge founded in the town at the height of the Gold Rush in 1854. The blank printed forms all provide a "Certificate of Purchase for Lot in the Union Cemetery Placerville.belonging to said Lodge according to the Plat of Survey made by D.B. Merry and the said Lot is hereby granted to him subject to the rules of said Lodge now in force or that may hereafter be adopted for the government of the same." This particular lodge was and still is associated with the International Order of Odd Fellows which established a number of groups in California during the Gold Rush. hardcover books

The map shows routes between major towns and cities on the California coast in the Central Valley and southern desert with mileages between them and major route intersections. Eleven small insets show the fastest routes through San Francisco Oakland San Jose Stockton Modesto Fresno Santa Cruz San Luis Obispo Santa Barbara Bakersfield and Los Angeles. The information is all keyed to the various streetcar lines indicating which lines are most convenient to which hotels etc. With information on all the major sights and municipal attractions as well as hotels banks theatres etc. A listing of the routes of each streetcar line occupies the final two pages. The map shows the city and county of San Francisco with the streetcar lines demarcated in red. A rare survival -- we find one copy of this edition in OCLC at the Milwaukee County Library with one or two copies of other editions located at UC Berkeley the New York Public Library California Historical and the Marin County Library.
