Greves a New York native who practiced law in Baton Rouge from the 1840s to the 1870s. <br> <br> A most important compilation of laws covering the southern part of the Louisiana purchase separated from the northern section in 1808 and so covering present-day Louisiana and Arkansas. Printed in parallel French and English this volume amalgamated for the first time the combination of English French and Spanish law which represented the legal past and present of the territory.
