174 pages including black and white photographic plates. In Spence Bay, in the far north of Canada, Judy Hill, a young nurse from Kingsbridge, Devon, decided to devote her life to caring for a community of Eskimos. In reading her story we learn of a hard cruel world where even 'survival' was still a luxury and of the courage necessary for the nurses to look after these still relatively primitive people in very isolated places. Here tragic death in a plane crash in 1972 drew attention to the vitally needed improvements in communications and facilities for these dedicated nurses. The facts of her death, and the controversy that surrounded Hartwell's action when he decided to use her body for nourishment, drew the world's attention to the risks these nurses took everyday in the wastes of the Arctic. Light wear to book which is clean and unmarked but for prior owner's name atop front endpaper. "The most detailed book ever about the famous F-86 Sabre... the classic jet fighter of all time, the plane that made history by taking control of the skies over Korea and drubbing the MiG-15... Contains the largest number of Sabre photos ever published in one book. As well, there are drawings, a full production list, various specs and statistics, and even drinking songs, poems and cartoons.
