ill. Il 31 dicembre 1929, con il transito dell'ultimo convoglio, cessò sulla tranvia Meldola-Forlì-Ravenna il servizio merci mentre continuò fino al 10 gennaio 1930 quello passeggeri. Tutto cominciò circa cinquant'anni prima quando il Dott. Giovanni Brusaporci di Meldola, l'Ing. Giulio Romagnoli di Forlì e la Banca torinese Tachis-Levi & Figli (che fornì i capitali) costituirono una società per la costruzione di una tranvia a vapore tra Meldola e Forlì, successivamente ceduta alla belga Societé Anonyme des Tramways des Romagnes già impegnata nella gestione di diverse tranvie in Italia. Il 19 novembre 1881 si ebbe l'inaugurazione della linea Meldola-Forlì, il 10 novembre 1883 venne inaugurata la Forlì-Ravenna e alla fine del 1884 fu completata la diramazione verso la Darsena del Porto di Ravenna. Nel 1900 la tranvia raggiunse anche lo zuccherificio di Classe e in seguito furono realizzati diversi raccordi con stabilimenti industriali soprattutto a Forlì. Questo volume, ricco di immagini e documenti, fa piena luce sul primo e unico tentativo di collegamento diretto, non automobilistico, tra Forlì e Ravenna che prolungando la tranvia proveniente da Meldola fino al Porto ravennate tentò di avvicinare la collina al mare.
