L'intera opera è stata ripresa, aggiornata ed integrata con nuovi contributi, per omaggiare nuovamente il 418 nel 2021, anno in cui si celebra il cinquantesimo anniversario dalla commercializzazione dei primi esemplari. La diffusione pressoché totale sull'intero territorio nazionale, la quantità di mezzi realizzati e la molteplicità di versioni rendono difficoltoso costruire un quadro completo del bus FIAT 418. Per comprendere cosa ha rappresentato questo modello, questa pubblicazione prova prima ad analizzare e a ricostruire tutti i retroscena, partendo dall'ideazione, passando per la tecnica, per arrivare alle varie interpretazioni dei carrozzieri italiani ed anche stranieri, per poi soffermarsi sulle realtà locali vissute in prima persona dagli autori dei contributi.
