The manuscript is illustrated throughout with hand-drawn schematics and diagrams and headings. The notebook covers the basic concepts necessary to understand an automotive engine "Elementary Mechanical Concepts" "Elementary Concepts of Electricity" etc. This notebook includes handwritten descriptions of the Hispano engine a groundbreaking vehicle maker which begun production in 1902. "In the engine of the Hispano 12 cylinder in V with each of the rows composed of a single aluminium block which includes the combustion chamber. The valves are adjusted when warm and are made of nitrided steel." Other notes include vehicle anatomy such as "Vehicle crank shaft for 12 cylinder engines" "Carborators" "Cooling systems" "Starting system including spark plug and magneto" coachbuilder including a Hispano-Suiza.
