Solimbergo, nato nel 1846, dopo essersi laureato giovanissimo in legge a Padova, inizia la pratica forense in un prestigioso studio di Firenze. Nel 1875 Giuseppe Solimbergo viene invitato dal Ministero degli Esteri a parteciparea questa missione in Indocina (quando ancora quella regione si chiamava Cocincina, e la Thailandia era ancora il favoloso Siam) ed in Malesia (che ancora si chiamava Penisola Malacca).La nave che porto' quella spedizione laggiu', spingendosi fino all?isola di Sumatra, faceva parte della flotta Rubattino e Giuseppe Solimbergo fu l??istoriografo? di quella spedizione

I interviewed the excellent man at the Camera i.e. the Radcliffe Camera to whom you directed me on the subject of Scout literature. I found him quite interested in the subject & with an excellent collection already.’ He has got the man a ‘list from H. Q. in case he cares to check it with his own’. As the man said he was ‘very short of foreign books on the subject’ he has written to ‘H. In his capacity as Quarter Master General Brownrigg informs Brock that 'the Establishment of Entrenching Tool Carts and Tools attached to the several Regiments in Great Britain shall cease on the 24th of June next and that the Horses Harness and Carts used for carrying the Tools shall be forthwith Sold by Publick Auction.' Gives instructions for delivering over the 'Horses Carts and Harness'. An officer of the Royal Waggon Train will superintend and Brock must report his progress. Signed 'Robt Brownrigg Qr Mr. Genl.'
