'Braces' Bracegirdle (1911-1993) led a distinguished career in the RAN. During WWII he served in HMAS PERTH in the Mediterranean (first DSC) and then in HMAS SYDNEY at Leyte Gulf (second DSC). During the Korean War he commanded HMAS BATAAN (third DSC). A NOTABLE KOREAN WAR ASSOCIATION COPY WITH SIGNIFICANT NAVAL PROVENANCE.

It was never dampened until he died in Seoul at 86. His actual residence in that country was shortened to 21 years by his reluctant but painstakingly accurate attack on 'enlightened Japan's imperialism. This period saw him transformed from an inexperienced teacher of 23 in 1886 into an internationally known champion of Korean culture and political integrity of 44 in 1907." - from page ED 23.
