253 pages. Reveals the astonishing story of a young Air Force pilot named Lance Sijan whose valor, dedication to duty, and indomitable spirit were tested under the most extreme condtions. In 1967 Sijan was ejected from his fighter-bomber into the jungle of Laos. Although disable, he dragged himself for six weeks until his capture. He escaped, but upon his recapture was tortured, and revealed no military information. He died in Hanoi. His gallant struggle galvanized other American POWs to resist torture and brainwashing and Sijan was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. "..The finest true story, not only of the Vietnam era, but its message is equal to the finest epic, heroic literature of World War II, World War I, and the Civil War." - Colonel Glenn Nordin. Prior owner's bookplate upon front endpaper else unmarked. Light to moderate wear to clean book. Dust jacket bears several tears, all less than one inch in length. Nice copy. Book

The purpose in publishing the reports is to create or stimulate an intelligent interest in behalf of the Laos people of the plains and the polyglot tribes of the mountains in these wide needy and practically neglected regions. March 1898."

Front wrapper and free front endpaper detached but present. Some chipping to edges of wraps. Top and bottom corner of pages slightly bumped.
