The 1921 magazine has over 100 pages with illustrative photos on almost every page showing the traditional life in the Qajar era including water salesmen and tribesmen warriors on horseback. The 1943 magazine shows Iran during the war years and has already advanced significantly compared to images in the 1920s. The 1951 1968 and 1975 magazines show Iran during Mohammed Reza Shah's attempt to modernize the country. These have color images of the bazaar and landscapes as well as people of Iran. 14928A set of vintage black & white photos from Iran during the 1940's. The first image captures the typical early 20th century Persian architecture with oriental doorways and several horse drawn carriages and wagons making their way through the streets of Tehran. One carriage in the forefront is collecting and transporting a load of imported rubber tires for the war effort. Image size: 8.5" x 6.75". In the second image we can see a long and winding convoy of American trucks during WWII loaded with American goods for Russia proceeding along a rugged mountain road in northern Iran. Image size: 7"x 9." The first photo has slight waving to middle edges bottom left corner bumped. Overall both images in very good condition. unknown books

14787A set of 5 vintage black and white photographs measuring approximately 6x6" depicting landscapes and landmarks in Iran. In two of the photos Daniel's Tomb stands on an arid plain its conical spire rising above the nearby trees. In two other photos the remains of a watch tower jut out of the rocky desert landscape while in the foreground a man in Persian clothing observes his pack mules as they forage for grass. The final photo depicts an Iranian farmer and his two sons and they prepare the land for planting; they till the ground at the base of the mountains. All photos in very good condition. unknown books
14694Collection of four large vintage black and white photos. The first three photos depict Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi Shah of Iran and U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower in the lavish Crystal Room of the Palace of Tehran in 1959. Images are approximately 9.5"x6.5". These photos are taken during the Tehran Conference. The first and second images show the full landscape of the palace's Crystal Room capturing its shimmering mirrored walls. The third image is a close up of the dignitaries. In all three the Shah and President are accompanied by Queen Soraya and Zahedi. The fourth photo shows the Shah and his new wife Farah Diba in wedding attire following their marriage in 1959. 14586Two original antique steel costume engravings of a Persian Iran Royal Officer and Noble woman printed in 1864. Overall size: 9" x 12.5." The plate illustrations are brightly colored and intricately detailed characterization of the traditional costumes of a Persian Royal Officer and Noble woman. In the engraving of the Royal Officer titled "Khatchadour D'hohannes: Officier du Prince Royal de Perse" his attire entails a vibrant green coat with gold trimmings which covers a gold-colored ensemble with a purple sash that stores his dagger. In the engraving of the Persian Woman titled "Dame Persane" she is depicted in traditional costume as imagined by Europeans in the 1800's. The woman is shown leaning against a banister wearing an embroidered white satin gown with a pink silk and fur trimmed coat and a feathered headdress. General age related toning. Titled: PERSIA - PERSE- PERSIEN. 7 ½" x 8 ¾". These lithographs beautifully depict Persian costumes and interior décor from Iran. In the first lithograph we can see 10 men and one woman dressed in the various traditional Qajar attires of Iran. The second lithograph shows the beautiful interior décor including very intercate and vibrant Persian rugs elaborately scrolled door and window frames of a Kajar residence. They include two colored magazine covers of Mozaffer-ed-Din Shah with accompanied articles. 12" by 17.5" Magazines are eight pages. The third magazine was published in the French " Le Monde Illustre" in 1909 and boasts photos of Shah Ahmed Mirza along with the article "Chah of Persia Ahmed Mirza The Revolution of Persia." 11.4" by 15." Published in 1851 in New York and Germany. An intricate image depicting unique and dramatic aspects of Persian life in the 18th and 19th century presented in five panels on one lage page. The first image depicts a veiled bride riding a horse to meet her betrothed. The second image depicts a Persian woman traveling in a caravan supported by two horses. The third image shows a group of musicians playing wind and percussive intruments in a courtyard. The fourth image is of six men feasting on a decorative carpet. The fifth image depicts a war scene; one horseman aims his rifle at an awother warrier with a raised spear. The other half of the fith image shows a man who is beeing punished for his deeds with blows to his feet. Beautifully engraved with a rich contrast between light and dark. In very good condition. 17100Vintage Optical Lantern images of school students in Iran circa late 19 cent glass size is about 4" x 3.25" . One image hand-labeled "Persian School" in ink and "Teheran" in pencil show around 40 students and their teachers in traditional Persian Qajar era outfit and hat. Many are seated on a carpet and some standing in behind them all are in front of their schoolhouse. In the front we see the typical water basin "hose" that would be found at the center of most courtyards of that period. The studentsrange in age from children to young men the older ones are probably the teachers. in very good condition. Original images of the Qajar period are scarce. unknown books

Naser al-Din Shah was the first shah to have his picture taken and was very interested in the new medium of Photography. Image depicts the Shah seated confidently in full royal uniform including elaborate jewelry on his jacket and headgear with his jewel encrusted sword prominently displayed. Naser al-Din Shah was the Shah of Qajar Iran from September 5 1848 until his assassination on May 1 1896. Light foxing. 1/8" closed tear along bottom right edge.
