Scarce ethnographic study. In 1956 the author Pierre Bessaignet 1914-1989 under the auspices of UNESCO had created the sociology department at the University of Dhaka Bangladesh where he continued to teach for a few years. This publication is illustrated with 18 pages of black and white photographs chiefly of tribespeople and dwellings; charts relating to genealogy and village social structure and economic life; line drawings that provide floor plans of various dwellings and storage facilities; plus chapters relating to specific villages and families in these villages.
