Rabbi Dr. Isaac Lewin, (1906 - 1995) was a Professor Emeritus Of Jewish History at the Bernard Revel Graduate School of Yeshiva University In New York Lewin an architect of the Declaration on the Elimination of All Forms of Intolerance and of Discrimination Based on Religion or Belief, which was Proclaimed by General Assembly resolution 36/55 of 25 November 1981. For this, he was awarded the United Nation's Medal of Peace. He was also awarded by the city of Warsaw with the Golden Badge of Merit in 1988, for promoting international relations and cooperation among peoples He taught at YU from 1944 until 1985. He was an author and editor of works in English, Hebrew, Yiddish, and he could converse comfortably in German and French. Litvak (18741932) was the pseudonym of Haim Yankl Helfand, socialist, Yiddish writer, translator, and editor. Helfand who grew up in a strict orthodox home, joined an illegal study group in Vilna organized by the Jewish Social Democratic Group in Russia, the organization that later established the Bund in 1897.The Jewish socialist intelligentsia in Vilna immediately recognized Helfands usefulness to the movement, as he was a native Yiddish speaker with a traditional Jewish background and competency in Russian. From 1905 onward (after being exiled to Siberia) , he began writing under the pseudonym A. Litvak. Between 1905 and 1914, he was one of the most influential and prolific Yiddish writers for the Bund. Catalogue for the Palestine Exhibition and Fair in Autumn 1925; the exhibitions held in Tel Aviv would later be famously named the Levant Fair. Catalogue contains list of Exhibitors and Exhibits (organized according to product or trade) ; Contains many advertisements from the period. Exhibitions (now known as fairs) were quite successful and were ordered for tens of thousands and then hundreds of thousands of Jews, Arabs, English, and many tourists. The fair in 1932 was visited by nearly 300, 000 people. While the existence of this fair became known for the first time in Israel, their broadcasting station broadcast the events in Hebrew. This was four years before they began regular radio broadcasts in Israel by Voice Jerusalem. Fair visitors have included some very distinguished people, including British High Commissioners for Palestine Herbert Samuel (1920-1925) , Herbert Plumer (1925-1928) , John Chancellor (1928-1931) and Arthur Wauchope (1932-1937) , as well as Arab mayors of Jaffa and Jerusalem (Wikipedia, 2015) .
