An intimate first-hand perspective with fascinating anthropological and ethographic details of the unusual Sakau culture in the islands of Espiritu Santo and Gaua, particularily in the northeastern peninsula of the former island which is called Sakau. It examines the life of the cheerful and remarkably honest native people, the Melanesians, who lived almost precisely the life that their ancestors lived. With sketch maps, showing inhabited and uninhabited villages, as well as Hog Harbour, a village in northeast Santo so-named by explorers who were in awe of the abundance of pigs. A informative description of the Hebrides and a remarkably engaging travel account.
Book shows a little crunch at upper spine with a crease resulting, otherwise very light scuffing to covers only. Binding is solid and square, covers have sharp corners, exterior shows no other blemishes, text/interior is clean and free of marking of any kind. 42 pages with b&w photo section.
