Spécialiste de l’Inde, du sanscrit, comme son cousin, Émile donnera en 1861 une traduction de la Bhagavad-Gita, ainsi qu’un dictionnaire sanscrit en 1863. Le Mahabharata sera traduit par Hippolyte Fauche, dix volumes publiés entre 1863 et 1870. Rousseurs.
