8vo., First Edition, with photographs throughout; printed wrappers, wire-stitched as issued, a near fine copy. This scarce pamphlet accompanies the exhibition of artefacts and announces the sale. The SS Median was lost when torpedoed by a German U-boat off Devon on 28 April 1917. In 1987 Consortium Recovery salvaged eighty cases of possessions belonging to Lord Carmichael, Governor of Bengal. VERY SCARCE.

Numerous fine full-page plates, many folding. Printed on good wove paper. Interleaved throughout. SIGNED PRESENTATION INSCRIPTION FROM VASU TO C.W. BOLTON ON FRONT FLYLEAF. Large 8vo. Elegantly bound in full morocco, with title gilt on front cover. Binding worn, backstrip mostly missing but covers holding tight. Internally clean. Unique.
First Edition, no half-title, advertisement leaf following the title with a glossary of Moorish terms on verso, [4], 52 pp., disbound. Reza Khan had been charged with embezzlement, mal-administration, etc., and though he was acquitted he was not restored to office.

One is on the city of Calcutta, the other on art and art history, with special reference to Calcutta in the persuasion of the theme. The other is a gallery of about 80 contemporary artists from the region with a color plate for each, often with an inset of the artist's depiction of themself, in full color. Book shows no wear of any kind, back cover may have light staining to rustic cloth boards -- hard to tell if it's orginal or not. Dust jacket worn at top of spine with general scuffing, tiny edge tears. 8 5/8" x 11 1/4". Many color prints.

Nicolas Pimenta (1546-1614) fu mandato a Goa nel 1596, in ruolo di sovrintendente delle Indie Orientali. Questo è il suo secondo resoconto, in cui dopo aver riferito sullo stato delle sue missioni, descrive un viaggio verso Nord - a tratti avventuroso - intrapreso inizialmente con 11 compagni: nel volume si dà conto di una delle prime missioni cristiane in Bengala. Nicolas Pimenta (1546-1614) was sent to Goa in 1596, as Eastern India supervisor. This is his second report, in which he tells about his travel to North (sometimes adventurous) giving also account of one of the first Christian missions to Bengal.
Book shows light edge wear with creaseless front cover, chips along the spine, age-toned paper; very clean copy. Binding is solid and square, covers have sharp corners, text/interior is clean and free of marking of any kind. This is a collector's item; binding glue is over 50 years old and is likely fragile. Publisher's page marked "Bantam edition" m, yr. Contents include tropical moon, strange and beautiful land, women naked above the waist.
