8vo., First Edition, with 31 plates on 12 and 2 full-page maps in the text; cloth, backstrip lettered in silver, a very good, bright, clean copy in the dustwrapper, the latter sunned as usual as backstrip. Vividly written biography of one of the hardest worked RN cruisers of WWII. Covers her service and crippling in Norway (where the author served aboard her) followed by the Mediterranean where she won many battle honours (notably with Force K). Her nickname stems from a fifteen-day period in Malta during which she survived 2,000 sorties by Axis bombers which dropped 3,000 tons of bombs and 14 torpedoes. Certainly one of the scarcest of all individual ship accounts of the RN in WWII. The Chivers re-issue of 1986 is also remarkably hard to find. Enser, p.61; Law, 1020.
