New English Paperback. Pbo. Cr. 8vo. (20 x 14 cm). In English. 432 p. 100th Year Of The Çanakkale War; From the pen of a woman, A Fairytalelike Novel Set During The Çanakkale War. Unfulfilled Promises features a great love story set against the backdrop of The Great War (1914-1918). Gül Nihal Semsettin journeys from Turkey to London and back again to her family home in Çanakkale. Having studied medicine in London stands her in good stead when the whole of the Çanakkale Peninsula becomes embroiled in the struggle by the Allied Forces to take the land by force. Her suitors are from military backgrounds posted to her homeland from England and Australia as part of the enemy, sent to attack Turkey. For a young Turkish woman to have an affair with an enemy soldier was enough to disgrace any respectable Turkish family; but that was only part of Gül's dilemma. My Dearest Boy, You are all I have in this world; a treasure entrusted to me by God. Sadly however, all I can entrust with you is this letter. I am sure you will always wish that we had spent more time together and you will probably read it again and again. Undoubtedly you will wish that I was beside you but sadly, we have both been deprived of that joy, my angel. I want to assure you that although I'm reluctantly being dragged away from you my heart will continue to beat with yours. Don't forget that when you love someone, distances don't matter and nothing is impossible.

New English Paperback. Roy. 8vo. (24 x 17 cm). In English and Turkish. 111, [61] p., color and b/w ills. The Turkish war medal. Gallipoli Medal - Eiserner Halbmond.= Harp madalyasi. Çanakkale madalyasi. Often and incorrectly referred to as the 'Gallipoli Star' or 'Iron Half-Moon', my interest in the Harp Madalyasi (War Medal) , started a few years ago and I was immediately confronted with a myriad of unanswered questions due to the general lack of substantiated information on the subject. Luckily, I befriended other collectors interested in this award and eventually met the author in one of these online forums. First, let me say, that a printed reference on this subject was long overdue and I could not think of a better, more knowledgeable person, to bring this subject to light. The book briefly discusses the history of the Ottoman Empire and how it's military awards came into being, along with the European influence on design and purpose that led to the establishment of the War Medal. Various battles and campaigns are mentioned and examples of the various clasps often encountered on the War Medal ribbon are also shown. One of the book's highlights centers around the award regulations and amendments that applied, which are shown in great detail and reprinted with full translations. This is something many references overlook and often the collector has to rely on hearsay or other collector opinions, which often lead to confusion or erroneous statements as facts.
