1934brnjPutnam London 1934. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 568 pages complete. First edition of the first English translation of 'Wir Einmal Aus Dem Blechnapf Frisst' the translation was published in the same year as the novel was published in Germany. This novel of a petty criminal who finds it difficult to reintegrate into society after a spell in prison closely resembles Fallada's experience when he was imprisoned for fraud and theft due to his drug addictions. The book too closely details the way of life in Germany as the Nazis were enforcing their power. Indeed Fallada was in much trouble with the Nazis as this book was published. However the boards and spine are secure and comfortable. Within the contents are most pleasing. There are two previous owner signatures Dr I Sacks of Winburg.
