Having inheriting his father publishing house Baedeker created a new form of travel guide including detailed information of routes and accommodation. Creating a comprehensive guide for the 19th and 20th century Baedeker became synonymous with travel. These innovative guides resulted in Baedeker becoming the most successful publisher of travel guides in the world.
