Van Vleck/Orrin H. Bonney/". This signature is quite scarce as Orrin Bonney passed away at an early age. Battle Drum & Geysers has three sections: One the story of Lt. Doane's life; second Doane's complete journal of the 1870 Yellowstone expedition with thorough annotations by the Bonneys third Doane's complete journal of the 1876-1877 Snake River expedition also fully annotated. The work itself is a monumental 622 pages with an index and a bibliography. Volume has brown cloth covers with black lettering on the spine and some slight discoloration at the base of the spine. Dust jacket is protected in an archival quality Brodart cover and has a touch of of sun fade on the spine. Dust jacket is price-clipped; I have never seen a copy of this work's dj that is not price-clipped.
