Si segnalo' in particolare per l'impegno e l'aiuto che porto' durante l'epidemia di peste che colpi' Marsiglia nel 1720. L'A. dell'opera e' Madame S. Emma Mahul dei Conti Dejean, traduttrice di Petrarca, membro onorario dell'Accademia di Arezzo e dell'Accademia di Sicilia. Come spiega l'A., il cavalier Roze era un suo avo, poiche' la nonna materna della Mahul era nipote del cavaliere.

Helen Long (nee Vlasto; niece of Dr. Rodocanachi) gives a detailed account of the Rodocanachi house in Marseilles that acted as headquarters of the O'Leary escape line. The story naturally involves most of the luminaries of the period including Airey Neave, Caskie, Nouveau, Garrow and, of course, 'O'Leary' himself. SCARCE, ESPECIALLY IN THIS CONDITION. Enser, p.77.

"This is the log book, written as fiction but based on fact, of the voyage of an ill-fated Roman galley from Delos in the Aegean to Massalia, the modern Marseilles, in about 145 B.C. The wreck, with the remains of ots cargo of 10,000 amphorae and pottery from Megara was found in 9 fathoms of water . outside Marseilles . [by] Commandant Cousteau and his team. From the evidence provided by the surviving fragments of the hull and anchor, marks on the pottery and customs seals on the amphorae, the author has been able to retrace the voyage . Illustrated throughout in black & white with Le Corbusier's drawings and photographs of the Marseilles Block. a concrete apartment house of 360 flats built in 1948-50. Ejected from his position as Minister of the Scottish Kirk in Paris, he relocated to Marseilles where he turned the British Seamen's Mission into a vital link in the chain for escaping POWs and soldiers returning from Dunkirk. He was eventually denounced (by a British traitor), captured and passed through seven prisons including the infamous 'Villa Lynwood' in Nice where was held at the same time as Odette Hallowes. He was sentenced to death by the Gestapo but saved from execution by a German padre. SCARCE IN THIS CONDITION. Enser, p.396.
