Mounted with hinges on support sheets.The two artists were sisters.Adele-Anais Toudouze Paris 1822-1899 was one of the major artists for La Mode. She belonged to a most talented family of artists and engravers. Other family members who produced fashion plates and fine art included her mother Alexandre-Marie Colin 1798-1873 and her daughter Isabelle Toudouze 1872-1925. In 1845 Adele-Anais married the painter and architect Gabriel-Auguste Toudouze. She is also listed as Maddemoiselle Anais Colin Adele-Anais Colin & Adele-Anais Colin-Toudouze.Héloïse Colin was the daughter of painter Alexandre-Marie Colin and Marie Joseph Juhel. She married Auguste Leloir with whom she had two sons: the illustrator Maurice Leloir and the painter Alexandre-Louis Leloir.She exhibited her first drawings in the 1835 edition of the Salon. She basically painted watercolors and became known for her portraits of small dimensions. Heloise with her two sisters Adèle Anaïs Toudouze and Laure Noël were among the greatest illustrators of Parisian fashion of the mid-nineteenth.Colas 2082; Lipperheide 4690. This is the second novel in her Cities of the Interior series. Carroll 1913-1988 was a screenwriter and author. His most successful project was The Hustler 1961 which was nominated for an Academy Award and was selected by the Writers Guild of America as number 96 in their 2006 "Greatest Screenplays" list. The covers are stained darkened and rubbed the front cover is detached and the partially perished spine is quite frayed. 104 pages illustrated with pictorial initials and 14 superb colored lithographs by Louis Lassalle after works by major artists. A paper remnant adheres to the creased front endpaper. There is some occasional soiling and some minor foxing. There is a very short tear to the margins of a two text leaves. A complete copy with spectacular bright colored lithographs. <p>RARE. The Bibliotheque National de France dates the book as 1853.<p>Louis Simon Cabaillot Lassalle 1810-1870 is known for his genre paintings.
