Alessandro Roveri, laureatosi a Bologna, dal 1965 al 1970 ha lavorato presso l’Istituto Storico Italiano per l’Età Moderna e Contemporanea di Roma. Assistente ordinario presso la cattedra di Storia della Facoltà di Magistero (Roma), ha poi sempre insegnato Storia moderna e contemporanea all’Università di Ferrara. A cavallo dell’unificazione tedesca, ha tenuto seminari nelle Università di Marburg e Dresda.
