Avocat puis procureur au parlement, il fut guillotiné en 1794. Il est également l'auteur de comédies et de cantates, rédacteur des "Annales de la municipalité de Bordeaux et du département de la Gironde" (1790-1791). "Le 8 février, il paraît [cette] brochure où le patriotisme triomphe de tous les sophismes dont les royalistes ont voulu faire usage pour le combattre. L'auteur anonyme défend vigoureusement le Parlement de toutes les inculpations vagues dont on l'a chargé, et finit par désirer que l'on substitue les États provinciaux au régime politique imaginé par la Cour. Il y a de la chaleur, de la raison et de l'ordre dans cet écrit" (Pierre Bernadau, 'Les débuts de la révolution à Bordeaux', p. 10). Louis XVI réagit rapidement en convoquant un Lit de Justice qui force l'enregistrement, retire au Parlement le contrôle législatif et fiscal et l'exile à Troyes en provoquant une violente réaction des parlements de province et de l'opinion publique. Les remontrances proprement dites sont suivies d la "Réponse du roi". Cet acte constitue l'un des événements majeurs dans le déclenchement de l'agitation prérévolutionnaire. Capitale raccolta degli atti e dei documenti delle Assemblee legislative costituite nel Regno sabaudo nell'arco di tre secoli, cinque anni dopo sarà stampata la seconda parte dell'opera che riguarderà gli anni dal 1561 al 1766. Suddivise per regioni e per epoche storiche, si trovano in questa colossale opera i rescritti e le decisioni che costituirono l'impianto legislativo della vita comune nel Regno sabaudo. Un esame che dà immediato risalto alle assonanze e dissonanze fra le varie comunità, i tentativi di definire, dopo la legislazione longobarda, un proprio Corpus giuridico su cui fondare il vivere comunitario. Una miniera immensa di notizie e di fatti che creano essi stessi la Storia, con la possibilità di seguire il cammino prima incerto poi sempre più spedito con cui, da un agglomerato di singole istanze di piccoli paesi, si arriva alla definizione di uno Stato unito e forte. Assolutamente poco comune e di difficile reperimento si presenta quest'opera pur con qualche difetto: il primo fascicolo slegato, una traccia di bruciatura (senza mancanza) al margine bianco superiore delle prime 15 carte, inoltre una fastidiosa fioritura della carta che dalle prime pagine va man mano diminuendo, limitandosi già dalla trentesima al solo margine interno bianco, fino a scomparire del tutto, lasciando il volume immacolato per il restante tre quarti. Importante.
