Già a metà del Cinquecento Louise Labé, con i suoi ventiquattro sonetti a tema amoroso, pur formalmente più vicina al modello aveva fatto propri alcuni dei segni dell'antipetrarchismo francese. A distanza di quattrocento anni la traduzione di Rainer Maria Rilke dei sonetti della poetessa di Lione conferma la forza del petrarchismo femminile e della traduzione come mezzo di sopravvivenza delle opere.
