1959255<p>First Edition. Folio 39cm32cm. Tipped-in frontispiece portrait of Mao Zedong profusely illustrated throughout with black and white and colour photographs text in Chinese. Publisher's cream cloth front board lettered in red in Chinese with blind-stamped emblem of the People's Republic of China spine ends decoratively stamped in blind publisher's clear mylar wrapper brown endpapers flecked with gold publisher's white bookmark 562pp. Housed in original box with the original recipient's address details written to the front of the box. Accompanying the book are three separate items: The publisher's compliments slip in French one small sheet from the publisher in Chinese and a table of contents booklet in French. Published by the China Album Editing Committee Beijing 1959.</p><p>The book is in fine condition. The publisher's clear mylar wrapper is in very good condition with a couple of small tears and some very minor loss. The box is in very good condition with some expected wear and two of the edges are spilt.</p><p>Provenance: This copy is from the collection of Julien Creytens 1897-1972 who was a Belgian Post-Impressionist painter Professor at the Antwerp Academy and a committee member of the Royal Museum of Fine Art in Antwerp. He was given this copy of the book during a study trip to China in 1959.</p><p>This landmark propaganda photography book was commissioned by the Ministry of Culture to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the People's Republic of China. Created by leading photograph journalists and officials over more than a year copies of the book were distributed solely to political elites foreign dignitaries and key national libraries. Thus copies very rarely appear in commerce. RareBookHub records only a single appearance at auction.<br /><br />The book highlights a decade of achievements by the Communist Party in agriculture industry science education and the arts. Extrait des mémoires de Guillaume Paradin de Cuyseaulx (1510-1590), doyen de Beaujeu. On lui doit de nombreux ouvrages historiques ("Mémoires de l'histoire de Lyon" chez Antoine Gryphus en 1573). Dans ses mémoires, il aborde les thèmes suivants : moeurs, gastronomie, les plaisirs et les jeux, violences, naissances et morts - nombreuses - vie agricole, écho des guerres de religion, l'histoire immédiate vue de Beaujeu, la circulation des biens... Le texte manuscrit "découvert chez un chiffonier en 1824" a été partiellement édité en 1824 et en 1903 sans commentaire.
