Joseph Marie Soulary, dit Joséphin Soulary (né le 23 février 1815 à Lyon et mort le 28 mars 18911 à Lyon) était le fils d'un commerçant de Lyon d'origine génoise (Solari). Sa maîtrise des difficultés techniques de son art, en particulier dans le sonnet, lui valut le titre de "Benvenuto de la rime". Membre de l'Académie des sciences, belles-lettres et arts de Lyon, il reçut deux fois le prix Vitet de l’Académie française, en 1878 et en 1891 pour l'Ensemble de son œuvre poétique. Reliure un peu frottée, qqs petitss accrocs. Bon exemplaire.

First and only edition of this monograph on this little island (now part of the 9th arrondissement of Lyon) in the SaÙne. 32 pp. The Ile Barbe has been inhabited since ancient times, an abbey was built there in the fifth century, and Charlemage endowed it with a rich collection of manuscripts in the ninth. As mentioned on the title-page, the final pages provide a catalogue of these extremely early medieval manuscripts (22 manuscripts described.) 8vo. Original wraps. Entirely uncut, fine, and bright. Very rare, especially in such pristine condition.
