Descendia d'una rica família catalana de burgesos i funcionaris que accedí a la noblesa a partir de 1360 any en què l'avi del poeta Jaume March 1300-1375 assolí la condició de cavaller. El seu oncle Jaume ca. 1336-1410 hereu de les possessions que la família tenia a Catalunya i el seu pare Pere ca. 1337-1413 hereu de les del Regne de València van ser també poetes i homes de lletres. Ausiàs era fill de Pere March i de la seua segona esposa Lionor de Ripoll que també tingueren una filla Peirona nascuda amb posterioritat al poeta. Edges toned and a little spotted; a few occasional spots to contents with some off-setting to the endpapers. Brief previous owner inscription to the front endpaper and a small owners stamp to the lower edge. A very good copy.<br /><br />The price-clipped dust jacket shows a little loss and chipping at the spine ends and corners; light soiling and general toning to front with some browning to verso nevertheless a very good example.<br /><br />March's enduring psychological study of childhood evil first published in the United States earlier the same year and the basis for the celebrated 1956 film adaptation.
