Second ouvrage publié par " Les Bibliophiles de France et de Normandie " tirage limité à 150 exemplaires numérotés de 1 à 150, réservés aux membres de la société, et à 26 ex de collaborateurs lettrés de A à Z, tous sur vélin pur chiffon d'Arches signés par l'artiste. 15 très belles eaux-fortes originales en couleurs, dont 8 à double-page, portrait de Ronsard en frontispice. Des eaux-fortes d'Edouard Pignon il a été tiré dix suites sur Arches en premier état et quinze en état définitif sur Richard de Bas à la main. Exemplaire nominatif n° 110 avec la suite des gravures en état définitif. Très bel exemplaire en parfait état. Édouard Pignon est un peintre français de la nouvelle École de Paris, né le 12 février 1905, mort le 14 mai 1993.

Hart was in no doubt about the responsibility of his task, the more so since much of this unique material had to be painstakingly reassembled from its various hiding-places safe from Hitler's eyes. brossura Agosto 1944. Una piccola isola, posta al largo della costa bretone, resiste alle soverchianti forze Alleate sbarcate da poco in Normandia. Da giugno ai primi di settembre del 1944 la guarnigione dell'isola di Cézembre, ormai assediata senza possibilità di aiuti esterni, nonostante patisca fame, sete e soprattutto un continuo bombardamento da terra, dal mare e dal cielo, non si arrende. Subisce i peggiori bombardamenti della seconda guerra mondiale. Qui sarà usato, tra le prime volte in un conflitto, il napalm, mistura incendiaria che fonde i metalli, brucia la vegetazione e rende l'aria all'interno dei bunker, dove sono asserragliati i difensori, irrespirabile. Nonostante questo, a ogni tregua dei bombardamenti, gli uomini escono dai rifugi e martellano con i loro cannoni le postazioni Alleate dislocate nella vicina città di Saint-Malo. Alla fine, impossibilitati a continuare questa impari lotta, la guarnigione si arrende alle forze americane. Cézembre, l'isola che non voleva arrendersi, passa quindi alla storia non solo per l'eroismo dei suoi difensori ma anche come luogo più bombardato della seconda guerra mondiale e questo, purtroppo, è un triste primato.
