Dumas became president in 1859 Pasteur and Cahours vice-presidents and Wurtz secretary. From 1860 this society would become the center in France of research on atomic theory and organic chemistry. Among the articles there are two important lessons by Pasteur a first from 1860 "Research on the dissymmetry of natural organic products" and a second in 1861 on Spontaneous Generation; a "History of organic radicals" by Cahours; a "General history of glycols" by Wurtz; "On synthesis in organic chemistry" by Berthelot; "On the influence exerted by the atmosphere on vegetation" by Barral; a "Lectures on the optical study of sounds" by Lissajous; "Research on nitrification and general considerations on the role of nitrates in vegetation" by Cloëz; and "Luminous effects resulting from the action of light on bodies" by Edmond Becquerel. 8vo contemporary green leather gilt raised spine over green marbled boards.
