Generally Considered Another "Impostor" Autobiography But. "Prince" John David De Guelph Aka Prince John Rex Windsor Aka Dr. John Rex Guelph Norman 1861-1932 Was Reportedly A Bishop Of The Wesleyan Episcopal Church And Claimed To Be The Son Of King Edward Vii Of England And Rightful Heir To The Throne. His Claim Was Based On An Assertion That Edward Secretly Married An Irish Noblewoman In 1860 Resulting In The "Prince's" Birth In 1861 Making Him The Firstborn Son Of The Future King. The "Prince" Became Well Known For His Disputes With Expensive New York Hotels Which Expected Him To Pay Rent. In 1909 He Attempted To Sue The St. Regis Hotel For $500000 Damages After He Was "Unlawfully Imprisoned" By The Hotel Detective For An Hour As He Attempted To Collect $100 In Rent. The "Prince" Authored "The Memoirs Of Prince John De Guelph Rex Et Imperator De Jure Of Great Britain And Ireland" In 1910 In The Hope Of Promoting His Claim After The Death Of Edward. In The Book He Claimed To Have Been A Soldier In Ireland India And Burma Then A Police Inspector Prison Warden Burmese Folk Hero Survivor Of The 1906 San Francisco Earthquake And Cancer Researcher. After Moving To Los Angeles He Changed His Name To John Joshua David Edward George Patrick Andrew De Windsor And Repeatedly Kept His Name In The Newspapers With A Variety Of Antics Including His Arrest For Shooting Deer Who Were Eating His Plants And Foundation Of A Sanatorium Which He Reportedly Fled Leaving $1200 In Debt. His Home Burned Down In 1922 Potentially A Result Of An Accident In His Home "Medicinal" Winery. He Died Of A Heart Attack In 1932 His Aspirations To The Throne Unrealized." Source: Findagrave.
