Ecology and silviculture describes 55 native tree species. For each species there is a taxonomic description a section on ecology describing the type of forest and soil where the species is found; silviculture with information concerning the collection and cultivation of the seeds in the nursery and the potential use of the species in forest plantations; and finally a very brief summary of the characteristics of the wood and its current uses. Each species is accompanied by color photographs together with a drawing of the leaves flowers or fruits in order to facilitate the identification. One of the main objectives in presenting this comprehensive information is to provide the general public with all the available scientific data and popular knowledge on these trees generated over many years in the hope that the consumers will not only value these fine woods but also contribute to efforts to use timber resources in a sustainable way.
