At this time the members of the quartet were Josef Roisman Alexander Schneider Boris Kroyt and Mischa Schneider. They performed Bartok's Quartet no. 2 and Beethoven's Quartet no. 7. 1 p. beautifully printed on heavy card stock with deckled edges in very fine condition. 5.5 x 7.5 inches 14.2 x 19.5 cm. A rare photograph of the the great Hungarian quartet with printed signatures from members Feri Roth Jeno Antal Ferenc Molnar and Janos Scholz and signed and inscribed by Roth at the head in ink. He has penned an inscription to a Miss Mary Jane Clinite dated San Francisco July 17 1937 and signed "the Roth's." One slight crease at the lower right; overall in fine condition. 9.75 x 7.75 inches 24.7 x 20 cm.<br style="">The Roth Quartet founded in Budapest in 1922 made its debut in Paris in 1924 and toured the US in the late 1920's before permanently settling there due to the rise of fascism in Europe. They premiered many important modern works including quartets by Prokofiev and Korngold.<br style=""> unknown books

Jenö Léner first violin Joszef Smilovits second violin Sándor Roth viola and Imre Hartmann cello have signed next to each of their images; the photograph has been slightly trimmed with some loss to Hartmann's and Smilovits' signatures. The top half of the page bears the inscription: "A Monsieur Howell Davis souvenir de profonde reconnaissance et de vive sympathie 'Le Quatun du Flonzaley' Nov. 1927." Signing directly below their images are Adolfo Betti Alfred Pochon Ivan de Archambeau and Nicolos Moldaro.
