410 p. Highly illustrated with images of tools, equipment, furniture, machines, etc. Two pages have sections printed in GOLD GILT. 4to. 280 mm. Original full red cloth binding. decorated in black. The color is worn out, especially on the front board, but this is still an attractive item. H.D. Justi (1834-1922) became a manufacturer of dental supplies and false teeth shortly after his arrival in the U.S. around 1850. He devised new molds that allowed a colored veneer to cover the Vulcan rubber base. He presented his method to the Orum and Armstrong Tooth Co. which promptly hired him. Justi soon became a partner in the firm and bought out his partners in 1864 to form the H.D. Justi Co. Justi's dental appliance company became nationally prominent. Before his inventions, porcelain teeth were hand crafted for each patient. His techniques turned it into a more standardized manufacturing process. He soon opened a new large manufacturing space and dental supply shop, and in 1886 they built a large factory at 32nd & Spring Garden in Philadelphia. He revolutionized the false teeth industry. Efendi (Clerk of Beyazit Library and the imam of Ali Pasa Mosque) and from Trabzonlu Hüsnü Efendi. He left Political School because of health problems. He continued with his lectures for some time at Law School and at Madrasah. He learnt Arabic, Persian and French and was interested in calligraphy and music.

A very detailed work with all the details needed to make accurate aerial photographs, with formulas, charts, equipment and detailed examples. The author had served in the last war with the Canadian Military Survey and developed his methods after the war where speed and accuracy were both essential. There are excellent photos in the book of the equipment used, and details on stereoscopy and photogrammetry.

Editorial sturdy green cloth with bright gilt lettering on front board and spine, spine slightly faded and light foxing on pastedowns and endpapers otherwise a very good, nice copy, crisp and clean. Important work by the Italian scientist Galileo Ferraris, originally published in Italian as The Fundamental Properties of Dioptric Instruments, here translated into English by Oscar Faber. From the review which apperared in Nature, the scientific journal: "The original of this translation was published by Prof. Galileo Ferraris, of Turin, in 1876. As a copy of this original could apparently not be procured, the English translation was made from a German one by Lippich, which appeared in 1879. At the time of its appearance the book unquestionably marked a great advance in the treatment of its subject, and well deserved the extremely favourable review with which Abbe honoured the German translation in the first volume of the Zeitschrift für Instrumentenkunde."
