The object of the paper will be to harmonize the action and promote the efficient organization of the Whig party as well as to diffuse its principles and arouse its spirit and enthusiasm." Subscription costs are printed after which Gideon signs in type from Washington in June 1848.<br /> Beneath Gideon's name is a recommendation from seven members of the Whig Executive Committee of Congress urging support for the Paper which "will prove a vehicle of useful political information and if generally circulated will contribute powerfully to the desired change in the Administration of the Government."<br /> There follows a section for persons to sign up for subscriptions with their post office addresses. Card creased and a little marked; in very good condition. 'On 15 September 1942 this company began its life in the training camp at Scheyville in New South Wales. Later it moved to various camps in Queensland before departing for Port Moresby in December 1942. From Port Moresby it moved to Lae and Nadzab in 1943 and 1944 before returning to Queensland and being disbanded in October 1945' Hansard 18 September 2002 page 6689. The Battery unknown
