ill., ril. "Una mostra fotografica accompagnata da un catalogo non è cosa inusuale, neanche per un festival jazz. Certo, 40 edizioni - quelle che il festival jazz di Bergamo festeggia nel 2018 - sono un traguardo che poche altre manifestazioni musicali italiane del genere possono tagliare. Abbiamo quindi pensato di raccontarne le prime 39 attraverso le immagini di nove fotografi che nel corso degli anni le hanno documentate (alle loro fotografie si aggiungono quelle degli archivi dell'Azienda Autonoma di Turismo). Tanti suoni, tanti strumenti, tanti nomi si sono quindi avvicendati sui palcoscenici del festival jazz di Bergamo, sin da quando si chiamava Rassegna Internazionale del Jazz, con le sue 12 edizioni dal 1969 al 1978, al Teatro Donizetti e poi, per decisione innaturale ma obbligata per accogliere un pubblico numericamente in costante crescita, al Palazzetto dello Sport, e infine, nel 1982 e 1983, all'Auditorium del Seminario. Anni accompagnati da un crescente successo, soprattutto fra i giovani dell'epoca che si erano appropriati di una musica coltivata sino ad allora da un numero più ristretto di intrepidi, ma anche un poco elitari, appassionati."
