An excellent primary resource on Rock's Tibetan exploration among the independent Lama kingdom of Muli in the extreme Southwest of Szechwan. The road to Muli lies through Gorges & over mountains pierced by the mighty Yangtze which has cut a 13000 feet deep trench through the limestone. The trip to Likian to Muli is one of the most trying in South- western China. Rock treked through the Lolo forest lands and Nashi sheepherders Tibetan highlands of Laposhan to the summit of the Yangtze-Youngning at 12550 feet to the Lushi tribe. A fascinating account of the Muli & its Lamasary with 700 Lamas.
