ill., br. Al termine di un viaggio negli Stati Uniti, l'ultimo giorno era prevista un'escursione che comprendeva Grand Canyon e Monument Valley. A fine giornata decisi di sostare a Flagtsaff, un'affascinante cittadina old-style western sulla Route 66 e lì mi consigliarono di fermarmi al Wetherford Hotel uno storico locale che ha ancora l'aspetto di un vecchio saloon di fine '800. Le mie aspettative non andarono deluse. L'arredamento era proprio quello visto in tanti film western. Mentre mi gustavo un appetitosa bistecca con fagioli (anche questo un classico) mi guardavo intorno per scandagliare ogni angolo del locale. Le due pareti di fondo erano piene di fotografie. Subito dopo mangiato mi avvicinai per osservarle meglio: là sopra c'era tutta la storia del rock che conta. Senza stare ad elencarli tutti, tra i tanti, ricordo le immagini di Eric Clapton, Jerry Garcia, Alvin Lee, George Harrison, Jack Bruce, Kurt Cobain, David Gilmour, Bruce Springsteen e moltissimi altri che, seppi più tardi, erano passati per quel locale lasciando tutti la loro foto con tanto di autografo.
