br. Professore di scuola e maestro di vita, Meister Eckhart fu anche un amministratore accorto e uomo molto potente del suo ordine, di cui ricoprì le cariche più prestigiose. La constatazione di un aspetto politico ancora poco considerato nella vita del Domenicano induce a rivedere l'immagine di un Eckhart troppo spesso stilizzato come un "mistico" fuori dalla realtà. In queste pagine si cercherà di ricostruire il progetto culturale e religioso che il maestro domenicano portò avanti con strumenti diversi (lezioni universitarie, trattati e commentari dotti in latino, prediche redatte in latino e in volgare), in sedi diverse (Università, all'interno e all'esterno dell'Ordine domenicano), ma caratterizzato da una notevole organicità.
