Lettre autographe signée à Mr Cayard, Accident domestique de Léon Carvalho à Saint-Raphaël, 1884 Cantatrice, artiste lyrique française Lettre autographe signée de la célèbre chanteuse d'opéra Caroline Miolan-Carvalho, créatrice des plus grands rôles de Gounod, adressée à Monsieur Cayard, collaborateur proche au Théâtre de l'Opéra-Comique, datée du mois d'avril 1884 à Valescure, Saint-Raphaël. Rédigée à l'encre bleue sur un double feuillet et un feuillet simple de papier vergé filigrané avec liseré de deuil de 4 mm. Dans cette lettre touchante et empreinte de confidences, l'artiste relate les déboires de son mari, Léon Carvalho, alors directeur de l'Opéra-Comique, en convalescence sur la Côte d'Azur. Elle y décrit avec émotion un accident domestique spectaculaire : - L'état de Léon : Un voyage éprouvant ayant provoqué une crise de nerfs chez le directeur, au point de vouloir rentrer à Paris immédiatement. - L'accident : Léon Carvalho fait tomber ses vêtements dans le feu et s'ébouillante gravement le pied avec une bouillotte. This book bears a two-line inked inscription with her signature dated 11 November 1908 on the blank page. Tipped into the book are 5 official portrait photographs of her in costume. At least two of them are by H. Mishkin New York City. Also tipped-in or laid in are clippings and images of other Aida and operatic performers.
