Thomas Tegg (1776-1845) was an English bookseller, author, and publisher. He was prolific and had an wonderful feel for the needs of his audience. In forty years (1800-1840) Tegg, published four thousand titles - most of which sold for low prices and reached a vast readership. Editorial red cloth slightly worn, gilt lettering on front board and spine and red edges, rear cover spot stained, traces of dust on pastedown and endpaper, small stain (from oil?) present in the outer margin of the preliminary sheets up to about pp5-6 not affecting text or illustrations, overall a good copy of this scarce and important work. This is the original edition and not a modern reprint or reproduction. James Swinburne was a very experienced and highly respected electrical consulting engineer, his expertise ranging from power stations to wireless telegraphy. In 1902-1903 he was President of the Institute of Electrical Engineers (IEE); in 1912 appointed by the British Government as member of the Technical Committee considering the Imperial Wireless Scheme.
