Thomas Tegg (1776-1845) was an English bookseller, author, and publisher. He was prolific and had an wonderful feel for the needs of his audience. In forty years (1800-1840) Tegg, published four thousand titles - most of which sold for low prices and reached a vast readership. This book was freely pirated in the U.S. Though stated as the First American Edition at least four previous editions had appeared. PA LIB 6
