A first issue of this handbook specially compiled for the Sports Division of the Dunlop Rubber Company. It contains accurate records of the championship players and their performances. In the publisher's wraps. Externally with handling marks to the wrap edgewear and a couple spots. Slight sunning to the paper. Internally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. First edition thus of this lavishly produced illustrated catalogue of rubber products from the Gorham-Revere Rubber Co. which was reorganized as the United States Rubber Co. in September 1913 and company later became known as Uniroyal. This catalogue features belting for manufacturing machinery belt tools waterproof cement water hose steam hose pneumatic hose wine and brewers’ hose brass fittings Village Fire Department hose carts paper mill diaphragms and even deep sea diving equipment. 18805934Boston 1880. Folded sheet. Very good. One folded brochure/flyer measuring about 3.5" x 6" with three panels printed on both sides. In very good condition a tinge dust-soiled but quite clean and intact. Tiny hole affects each panel but not dramatically. A scarce price list with engraved images of rubber shoes and boots for men and women. Nine engravings in all including some very nicely detailed large boots. Patent date of 1870 seems to comport with the style of the catalogue but we'd guess it's closer to 1880. Joseph Banigan is listed as the General Agent with E. H. Cutler as Boston wholesaler and W. S. Ballou as New York wholesaler. unknown

Vg/Vg (front of dj undamaged and unmarked, large tear across back of dj but no loss, neat signature title page else contents very clean in very good condition, near fine) 16mo 57pp. Little booklet published in aid of War Funds. Second printing August 1943. Sold in aid of the War Purposes Fund. Red lettering stamped across front cover reads "A gift to the Forces from Ceylon Theatres Limited." Foreword by the Governor of Ceylon. Quote from G. Layton, Admiral, Commander-in-Chief, Ceylon on front dj flap and on back dj as follows: "our war effort now demands the production of every pound of rubber possible, and the more interest taken in this subject the better." Short passages include the history of the rubber industry in Ceylon, early attempts at manufacture, Charles Goodyear, vulcanization, Sir Henry Wickham, the birth of companies, Dunlop, comparison of share prices, the world's production and consumption of rubber, and more. Also chapter on the production of rubber and the treatment of the raw product on the plantation illustrated with b/w photographs. Very interesting and unusual little item.
