Jerome Increase Case 1819- 1891 began building threshing machines in 1847 in Racine WI and by 1869 had engineered and built Case Steam Engine Number One. No man can meet a happier fate.' Loosely inserted is a 4to leaf of paper with one side carrying an advertisement for Bay Path Cover paper printed in light blue and black with a manuscript note stating that it is printed in 'The authentic Goudy face'. The revolutionary new design cut down on wear and tear of clothing in mechanical washing machines by forcing water through a vaned agitator mounted on the bottom of the tub rather than drag clothes through the water with a lid dolly. Introduced in 1922 this washing machine proved to be a game changer in home appliances and a key labor saving device.
