A near fine copy. <br /> <br /> A stunning production from the Czech painter illustrator set designer and actor Laichter Prokop 1898-1975 who was also son of the influential publisher Jan Laichter. In 1924 Prokop's first wife the author of this book Annuše died prematurely of tuberculosis and Laichter printed this book as a remembrance two years later. The introduction translates as "A few words spoken over the grave of a prematurely deceased fairy-teller." Likely printed in a very small number for friends and family we find 3 copies only in OCLC: Princeton and 2 in the Czech Republic. Prokop Laichter unknown

This came from the estate of Frank Kelly Freas and was his early working copy for the story. Contains two small preliminary sketches in red ink on the back of the first page one of which resembles the final sketch which made it into the magazine though they are not exactly the same. The other doesn't appear anywhere in the publication. That issue of Weird tales is also included. Great Freas collectible. unknown

Light edge wear and a few smudges to the typed pages few corner bends and edge chips to the handwritten pages but generally very good. <br /> <br /> An interesting manuscript from Donald Wandrei of the Weird Tales Circle being an unfinished screenplay based on his story "The Monster from Nowhere." The tale was first published in Munsey's Argosy November 23 1935 and later was collected in The Eye and the Finger published by Arhkam House in 1944. <br /> <br /> <br /> This script consists of about a dozen scenes mostly detailing the shots scenery and characters with a bit of dialogue and lines for a narrator. The manuscript pages are quite descriptive especially in detailing the nightmarish scene where a dead body floats down the road propelled by an unseen force. This theme of existential horror and the blurring of real and unreal are typical of the Weird Tales genre and it is a shame this screenplay was neither finished nor produced. <br /> <br /> We find manuscript material from Wandrei to be quite scarce. An excellent item from the Lovecraft circle. . unknown
