Le prime 2 lettere che qui troviamo stampate da p. 3 a p. 42 erano gia' state pubblicate autonomamente (come indicato in Riccardi), a queste ne seguono altre 3 con l'aggiunta di un 'Indice primo apologetico da unirsi ad una lettera intitolata Piena confutazione di due lettere apologetiche escite a favore del calcolatore Sig. Francesco Carpi in materia di sconto' e un 'Indice secondo apologetico da unirsi all'opuscolo intitolato Lettera in proposito di cambio o di pronto pagamento del capitano ingegnere Girolamo Francesco Cristiani'. Dice il Riccardi a commento dell'opera del Giardini: '...vertono sopra una quistione suscitatasi fra ragionieri modenesi nella occasione di una liquidazione fra due commercianti di un debito e credito rispettivamente di rate uguali. Original edition of this rare accounting work attributed to Giovan Battista Araldi and published as an answer to a writing by Giambattista Giardini printed in Modena. The first 2 letters that we find here printed by p. 3 on p. 42 had already been published independently (as indicated in Riccardi), followed by 3 others with the addition of a first apologetic index to be added to a letter entitled ‘Full refutation of two apologetic letters issued in favor of the calculator Mr. Francesco Carpi on discount 'and an 'Apologetic second index to be added to the booklet entitled Letter about exchange or prompt payment by the engineer captain Girolamo Francesco Cristiani'. Riccardi says in the comment of Giardini's work: '... they concern a question raised between Modena accountants on the occasion of a liquidation between two traders of a debt and credit of equal installments respectively.
