Good. this is a very pretty book it has a red inlaid cover on the front in I think is gold leaf other words the art of war surrounded by the weapons of the time with an eagle on the top the cover action is in very good shape for its age there is some minor wear on the spine where there is more embossing of him gold leaf of weapons and several flags the title on the spine itself is somewhat faded the gold leaf doesn't pop out at you the corners are good they are not worn through however they are slightly rounded the edges the pages have dirt dust little black specks for it's age I think it's in pretty good shape. The interior appears to be clean on the first page where the title is in pencil cursive writing it says E.N.Hallowell 1863.the edges have that particular rounded cut on the side of the book that you open which I find on books is sold so despite his good. Because of the age of the book and any concerns that you might have about the descriptions I've given.
