Sm. 8vo., Fifteenth Edition, with full-page engraved illustration of an ice-house, some mild age-staining to text throughout; original boards, very neatly rebacked in green cloth to style, old backstrip laid down, paper label, boards mildly age-marked at edges else a very good, bright, crisp copy. Cobbett's domestic manual for the labouring classes was first published in parts between 1821 and 1822. An immediate success, it has become a classic of rural and economic literature and is arguably his best-remembered work after 'Rural Rides'.

Collects the four pieces 'La Chaumiere Indienne', 'Le Café de Surate', 'Voyage en Silisie', and 'Immensite de la Nature'. The engraved title bears a fine portrait of the author engraved by Scriven after Girodet. The two early London editions are extremely scarce, especially in this condition.
